The Flukes and Scales Collection has been gathered by one of
the artists from the local studio over the last 10 years and is
comprised of both sea life specimens and art objects created
around sea life.
Highlights include the "Skeljaskrimsli" or Shell Monster, a suit
made of mussel shells based on an actual photograph of a
costume worn by an Icelander at the turn of the century and
a helmet made from eggshells inspired by an Inuit legend.
Most of the collection has been created in response to a
combination of Nordic myths, folk tales, natural history and
marine biology.
